BusinessYellen, in Beijing, Criticizes China’s Punitive Treatment of U.S. Companies

BEIJING — Friday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed optimism for an improved communication, with Yellen urging Beijing not to let anger over U.S. restrictions on technology exports disrupt economic cooperation, AP reported. She also criticized the ‘punitive’ treatment of U.S Companies by China along with the need to not-decoupling the relationship between U.S. and China but to perhaps diversify the creation of demand of products coming from China.

Both governments used positive language to characterize Yellen’s visit to Beijing, which was intended to improve strained relations, and emphasized the significance of U.S.-China economic relations.
