Earth’s core might now be spinning in the opposite direction, study finds

According to new research published in Nature Geoscience, the planet’s core may have stopped spinning and even reversed its rotation.

While it’s unclear how this affects Earth above the surface, researchers say they can see a consistent pattern of directional changes occurring every 70 years.
